Blizzard Entertainment, the developer behind Diablo 4, has announced a unique event to celebrate the game’s launch. As part of this event, the first 1,000 players to reach level 100 on a Hardcore character will be eligible to have their BattleTag immortalized.
The challenge, dubbed the “Diablo 4 Hardcore Race to 100,” invites players to navigate through the hellish landscapes of the game and emerge as one of the first 1,000 players to hit the max level of 100 in Hardcore mode. Hardcore mode is known for its permadeath feature, meaning once a player’s character dies, it can’t be resurrected.
In order to qualify for the contest, players need to send a public tweet to the official Diablo Twitter account showing their BattleTag and a picture of their level 100 Hardcore character using the hashtag #Diablo4Hardcore.
Blizzard isn’t simply immortalizing the winners in the digital world. The first 1,000 players skilled enough to reach level 100 on hardcore mode will have their usernames etched in a real-life statue of Lilith, a central character in the Diablo universe.
This launch event has drawn criticism from some quarters, with players voicing concerns about various aspects of the challenge. However, it certainly adds an extra layer of incentive for players looking to conquer the game’s Hardcore mode as quickly as possible.
The competition is set to begin with Diablo 4’s Early Access launch on June 1st, adding an extra layer of excitement to an already highly anticipated event in the gaming world.
